VACATION: A BREAK FOR MIND AND BODY OR A CHANGE TO SNEAK IN WORKING HOURS?

--

I tried both and hereā€™s what I found outā€¦

I used to treat holidays as undercover office time, sneaking in those emails. It felt good, like I was in control. But was I?

šŸ“£ WORKING ON VACATION MAKES YOU MISS OUT: When Iā€™m always ā€œonā€, my team misses the chance to flex their decision-making muscles. And guess what? Thatā€™s a leadership red flag, not a gold star.

šŸ“£ THE FEAR OF BEING UNNEEDED: I found that I was afraid of being ā€œunnecessary.ā€ Turns out, leadership isnā€™t about micromanaging every tiny decision. My influence goes beyond resolving urgent dilemmas.

šŸ“£ ADMITTING MY ADDICTION: I had to face it: the thrill of being needed was addictive. But instead, I tried turning off the notifications, I sat boundaries, and what happened was I actually enjoyed a disconnected day at the beach.

šŸ“£ LEARNING TO BE PRESENT: This was my real challenge ā€” how to truly unplug and just enjoy the moment with my family. It took practice, but itā€™s a habit Iā€™m embracing.

Every leader I know encourages their team to relax and recharge. So why was it so hard for me to do the same?

In a nutshell: You deserve a timeout!

The above picture is supposed to be me, captured through the ā€˜lensā€™ of MidJourney. Hmmā€¦.šŸ¤” (Iā€™m totally enchanted by itā€™s magic! āœØ Anyone else on this mesmerizing (Mid-)journey?
